About Us
Canadian
Caregivers’ Association (CCA)
is a non-for-profit organization
that was established to protect
the rights of Canadian families
and caregivers from all over Canada
and warn them about malpractices
in this business.
The CCA is proud member of Ontario
Coalition for Better Childcare.
Our mission is to come together
with a unified voice to promote
awareness and action to address
the needs of Canadian families
and caregivers across Canada.
It is our goal to protect the
working caregivers and their rights.
It is also our goal to raise awareness
among Canadian families to hire
those caregivers who are reliable
and to use the services of those
agencies who provide a professional
service by following Canada laws.
Our non-for-profit activity is
carried out through programs that
are designed both for Canadian
families and caregivers.

Programs
The Caregiver programs serve as the core of all of the CCA's activities. Staff and volunteers of the CCA offer information, access to resources, and linkage services to caregivers who approach us with their problems.
Both Caregivers and Employers can get in touch with our staff and volunteers by phone, e-mail, or mail to get the information and support they need, and to be connected to service and support organizations that can help further.
The CCA intends to advocate on behalf of caregivers and employers with policy makers at all levels and other key stakeholders to promote action to address the needs of live-in caregivers and Canadian families.
Back to Top Caregiver Leisure Program
The Program includes activities that are inherently social in nature, with the purpose of providing leisure, recreational, and cultural opportunities to caregivers (and their care receivers, if appropriate).
Caregiver members who participate in this program are able to attend events such as Treasure Hunts, Trips, Festivals, etc. CCA’s staff and volunteers are working together with several agencies in order to involve their caregivers as well in the Leisure Program.

Employer Edu-Program Stage I
The Program is designated to Canadian Families, employers of nannies and caregivers. The two sides of the program allow for both informing Canadian employers on how to select reliable agencies and caregivers and educating them on related issues.
Printed materials are made available through this program.

Caregiver Edu-Program
The Program is designed for Canadian caregivers and informs them on rights and respect while working for an employer. Elements of the program include counselling on the Employment Standards Act and abuse.
Caregivers are provided information on how to enforce their rights being respected in Canada.

Employer Edu-Program Stage II
The Program allows for a detailed informative process both on caregivers’ and employers’ rights as well as employer’s responsibilities. While its focus is on counselling employers, Canadian Families, on the Employment Standards Act and abuse, the program aims towards better educating the employers on the legal implications of hiring a live-in caregiver across all provinces in Canada.

Canada Caregiving Monitor
The Program consists of on-going monitoring of the issues that both employers and caregivers are facing during employment, challenges and difficulties that we want to hear about. The core activity of this program is to maintain a database with complaints on a daily basis.
Further activities consist of following ups and making recommendations to both caregivers and employers. The CCA considers the issues raised in these complaints when drawing its Policy & Advocacy strategy.

Non-for-Profit Matching
All caregivers and families/employers who are supporting members of the CCA can be matched for FREE.
Note: Please be advised that the CCA recommends the use of a reliable Full-Service agency.

Referral Program
Often the inquiries the CCA receives are legal matters, including immigration issues. If our staff cannot assist on a certain problem, the CCA has established a Referral Program, service whereby enquiring members and non-members will be given the contact information of the governmental body or legal office in their area with whom they can discuss their legal matters.

Legal Aid Pilot Program
The Program offers each of the CCA caregiver members and non-members in Canada the possibility to receive FREE high quality legal advice.
The launching of this program is pending upon grant approval.
